The Many Faces of Joy

A bike made for the enjoyment of cycling. A bike for many, and specially for those who prioritize enjoyment over anything else.

This is the main concept behind the Orbea Gain, and suddenly a bunch of images and concepts came to our mind. From the beginning we knew this project had everything to become one of those we will never forget.

We had had something similar in mind for a while, a video made with friends for friends. A video where nothing should be forced and with the ability to transmit feelings without deep messages in a voice over. With the campaign claim being “ Many faces of Joy” we had all the ingredients ready for the project.

Incredible scenic roads that come straight up from sea level.

Granada - Costa Tropical

We scout a bunch of locations and finally we head towards the Costa Tropical, somewhere in between the provinces of Almería and Granada that ensure us good and warm weather with some incredible scenic roads that come straight up from the sea level. Also Hotel La Ventera was the perfect scenario for all the off bike moments and they made us feel like home.

Having a cast that could get along fast was also a priority. For this we went with some familiar faces and a couple of new ones that had the right spirit for this project. Julia, Isma, Zoe, Virginia and Simon were definitely the right choice and a great mix of fun, performance and good riding skills.

Clothing was also a key point, and variety was needed. We worked together with a bunch of different top brands as Hiru, Endless, Pas Normal Studios or Biehler.

ORBEA GAIN 23

A bike made for those who are looking for enjoyment

In terms of human resources, we decided to work on a small team to make everything more familiar and flexible. One cameraman, one photographer and a great assistant was everything we needed to make this project a reality.

To sum it up, Orbea Gain campaign was by far the project that put the ice on the cake on a 2022 full of filming and experiences. It gave us the opportunity to shoot a huge part of the campaign on film, which made us shoot with a more organic style where capturing the essence and portraying the enjoyment was our main goal. We went for Kodak Vision 3 in 250 Daylight and 500 Tungsten from SilberSalz. SilberSalz provided us with 14K scans that gave us a lot of flexibility to work with.

Gain has been one of those projects that we have been dreaming about since we started NVCR. A project where the line between work and holidays was blurred and one of those that will be in our mind forever.

Thanks to the great team who made it possible.
